Meet the Vascular Access Team (1/2)

EVC's Vascular Access programme has six co-directors. Meet the first three: Dr. Maarten Snoeijs, Ms. Gelisa Allers and Dr. Gabriela Teixeira.

Maarten Snoeijs is a vascular surgeon at Maastricht University Medical Center in Maastricht, where he serves as the clinical lead of the national referral center for complex vascular access surgery. As a clinical epidemiologist, he is the principal investigator of pragmatic randomized controlled trials on hemodialysis access. As course director for vascular access at EVC, he is dedicated to training specialists across Europe in advanced vascular access care.

Gelisa Allers is a nurse practitioner specialised in vascular access for hemodialysis, coordinating patient education and access monitoring at Leids University Medical Center in Leiden. She is a member of the Dutch nursing working group ‘SIG Vascular Access’ and a member of the ESVS guideline writing committee for vascular access.

Gabriela Teixeira is a vascular surgeon at Unidade Local de Saúde Tâmega e Sousa (ULSTS) and Grupo de Estudos Vasculares (GEV) in Portugal. Moreover, she is the president of the Vascular Access and Transplantation Section of the Portuguese Society of Angiology and Vascular Surgery (SPACV).
