EVC Newsletter : Innovation Edition

For 29 years, EVC has been a place where vascular professionals come together to learn, train, and connect. That tradition remains the foundation of everything we do; and in 2026, we are building on it.

This year, with a new EVC Board, we are introducing several additions to the programme that reflect where our field is heading: more team-based, more human, and more hands-on than ever before.

Register for EVC 26 (8-10 March) now at www.vascular-course.com to experience an intense vascular training weekend!

The Surgical Arena : live surgery comes to EVC

EVC has always combined scientific lectures with practical training. This year, we take this a step further with a dedicated Surgical Arena for live surgery demonstrations. Optimal exposure, step-by-step surgical techniques, and efficient collaboration, while having open interaction: this is vascular surgery as it happens, brought directly into the learning environment.

The Well-being Area : investing in the human behind the specialist

The vascular community sets high standards for patient care. EVC 2026 acknowledges that sustainable excellence starts with the professionals who deliver that care. Our new Well-Being Area creates space for reflection, recovery, and resilience. Topics that are increasingly recognised as essential to long-term performance in surgical practice.

The Surgeon on Call Program : something new is coming

We are introducing a new programme element that will bring an unexpected dimension to EVC 2026. We are keeping the details under wraps for now, but it will challenge your thinking and test your adaptability in ways you may not anticipate. More to follow.

Fellows and trainees, keep an eye on your e-mail inbox!

ESVS Guideline Writing Workshop : shaping the standards of our field

In collaboration with the ESVS, we will introduce the first ever hands-on Guideline Writing Workshop. Understanding how clinical evidence translates into recommendations is valuable for every vascular professional, whether you are early in your career or already contributing to the field at the highest level. This workshop offers that insight, gives you the opportunity to actively engage with the process, and puts you in a position to become a next ESVS Guideline Writing Group member.

EVC 2026 builds on what has made this course a reference point in vascular education for nearly three decades, while taking deliberate steps forward. We look forward to welcoming you to Maastricht in March.

Warm regards,

Barend Mees, Marie Josée van Rijn & Çağdaş Ünlü on behalf of the EVC Team
