Dear EVC Enthusiasts,

Preparations are in full swing for the 29th edition of the European Vascular Course (EVC), and we warmly invite every vascular specialist, from young trainees to experienced colleagues, to join us. EVC 2026 will once again offer an exceptional training and education program in arterial, venous, and vascular access medicine, with program highlights including:

  • Cutting-edge lectures
  • Hands-on masterclasses
  • Intimate speakers’ corners
  • Over 300 workshops

The UEMS Section and Board of Vascular Surgery will host the European Vascular Surgery Examination on Saturday, March 7, 2026, one day prior to the main event. Interested candidates can register at www.uemsvascular.com.

Leadership change

After nearly 30 years of organizing EVC, I am officially handing over the reins to a new executive board led by Prof. Barend Mees, who has been closely involved with EVC for over a decade, and including Dr. Çağdaş Ünlü and Dr. Marie Jose van Rijn. I'm firmly convinced that the new EVC team will carry the EVC legacy forward with passion and dedication.

Personally, it has been an incredible journey to witness EVC grow from scratch into one of the most respected training and education events, especially for the younger generation of vascular specialists. I have had the pleasure of meeting thousands of passionate participants, including many valued members of the medical industry, for which I am deeply grateful.

I look forward to continuing my involvement with EVC in an advisory role and hope to see many of you again in Maastricht. Professionally, I remain active as a vascular surgeon at Charité University Hospital in Berlin, Germany, where we run an excellent program for complex thoraco-abdominal aortic surgery.

Prof. Dr. Michael Jacobs
